The revived Glorious Band last Friday night turned Platinum Pub in Lusaka’s Thorn Park Matebeto area into a hype of activities in a special Kalindula rival night.
Planned to take patrons back into time and help the band reunite with its fans, the show was purely loaded with glorious moments as the band which took a long musical walk into their career from genesis to the present time.
Of course, the band may not sound as original as their glory days because of the loss of band members to death including their pioneer Jonathan Chibesa, but their dedicated approach to revive their good old days was clear for all to see.
Now led by Kenda, one of the only two surviving members from the original team, the band was at its best to keep the memories alive. They performed all the well-known hit songs including ‘Isambo Lyamfwa’ and ‘Tata Mpeniko Amano’. Their over three hour performance was authentic, energetic and enchanting. It gave a sizeable crowd a real deal of live music. Occasionally, patrons were made to sing along and dance to the various songs in a kalindula way. Platinum Pub management has since pledged to continue giving revelers live performances and the Glorious Band could become the club’s resident band.
