A MAN narrated before a Local Court in Lusaka that his wife is not honest because she went to get the tittle deeds of the house he built with his late wife and got a loan from the bank without informing him but he is the one servicing it.

Christopher Mpande of Kanyama compound was testifying in a case in which his wife, Joyce Ndili sued him for divorce.

The two got married in 2007 and have no children.

Ndili told Senior Court Magistrate Abbyshine Michelo sitting with Magistrates Mubukwanu Matakala and Esther Mulomba at Kanyama Local Court that problems started few years after they got married because Mpande was irresponsible and that once he has money, he drank uncontrollably.

She explained that Mpande has been denying her to get house rentals and that he has been insulting his relatives and giving them a hostile reception.

Ndili added that her children from her previous marriage are not welcome at her place and that they have been on separation for two months.

In defence, Mpande said that Ndili is a business woman but once she goes for business, she doesn’t come in time.

“Ndili is not honest because she got the tittle deeds of the house I built with my late wife and got a loan from the bank without telling me but I am the one serving the loan,’’ said Mpande. Magistrate Michelo said that they have been on separation for two months and that they accuse each other.

He granted the couple divorce without compensation but ordered that the house be evaluated within 90 days and sold. Ndili would get 30 percent of the proceeds while Mpande 70 percent.

He said that while waiting for the house to be sold, they should share the money from rentals equally.
