THOSE that are supporting the wrongs at Law Association of Zambia (LAZ) are not sincere because the legal body has failed to prove its credibility in saving the Zambian people, says Gallant Youth in Zambia executive director Henry Mulenga.
Mr Mulenga said the legal body had become an attachment of some political grouping which had nothing to do with the interests of the nation.
“LAZ is expected to serve the interests of citizens because it had become clear that in its current form, it had become politically compromised, and has got nothing to offer to the Zambians.
“And those who are supporting the wrongs at LAZ should have themselves to blame because the institution has failed to stand its ground,” he said.
He said LAZ had lost the confidence of Zambians as it had traded its mandate and usefulness with political plans and had allowed itself to be used by individuals with selfish motives.
Mr Mulenga said the concern by some sections of society to have another legal body to replace the Law Association of Zambia was justified because the institution had lost its integrity in the eyes of the Zambians.
He said political patronage at the legal body was undermining the judicial system, and if not checked would compromise the national interests.
Mr Mulenga said LAZ in its current form was not inspiring because there was no justice, alleging that the institutions had its own individuals it served.
He said the cartel had a mission to destroy whoever was not dancing to their tune and therefore, the Zambian people should be on the lookout all the time.
