Government lacks preparation to combat Covid-19 – Leadership Movement

By SANFROSSA MANYINDA
FAILURE to open schools, isolate patients and Information gap confirms lack of preparation by the government, the Leadership Movement has said.

Leadership Movement Media Director Tatila Tatila has therefore demanded for more effort to be put in from the COVID-19 Presidential Advisor and Ministry of Health in combating the pandemic.

Mr Tatila said the revelation of 30,000 COVID-19 patients being under community management was one serious looming disaster.

He said the fact that many people were getting the virus in public markets, churches and bus stations showed that the government had no control on people’s movements.
“Patients under community management are interacting with us every day which is not a good thing.

“As a country, we are not doing enough to fight the virus which will make the country be like South Africa and other countries with high cases if we are not careful,” he said.

Mr Tatila alleged that Zambia was in a situation it is in today because the authorities failed to effect restrictions on domestic and International travel.
He further appealed to the authorities to plan ahead and think outside the box regarding the virus.
