A GUARD of a named security company in Solwezi has been arrested together with his two accomplices after intensive interrogations by police officers.

On Wednesday night thieves broke into Kansanshi mine town office and got away with one computer and assorted items worth over K15,000.

The security guard, identified as Obed Sombela, who was on duty at the time of the break-in, was allegedly aware of the impending crime.

North Western commissioner of police Auxensio Daka said the incident was reported by an education supervisor, Onward Mandevu, at the Kansnashi Foundation that two security guards who were on duty were threatened with a pistol by the criminals who later went away with the items.

“Upon being identified that he was part of the syndicate, he led the officers to the arrest of his accomplices Phison Masuwa and Godfrey Lupinda,” Mr Daka said.

He said all the items have been recovered together with a pistol and one round of ammunition.

“All three accused persons have been arrested and an aggravated robbery charge slapped on them and will appear in court soon,’’ he said.
