VEHICLE FERRYING GRADE 9 EXAM PAPERS PLUNGES INTO RIVER

Grade 9 examination papers were yesterday almost destroyed after the vehicle carrying the papers plunged into the Zambezi River in the district.

North Western commissioner of police Auxensio Daka confirmed the incident which occurred yesterday around 15:00 hours at the Pontoon.

Mr Daka said the vehicle a Nissan Patrol registration number GRZ 837CA driven by Labani Mukuma was coming from the district education board secretary’s (DEBS) office heading to schools in the West Bank.

He said the driver upon reaching the pontoon failed to stop and plunged into river, resulting in the vehicle to submerge.

“Yes, I can confirm that we recorded an incidence in Zambezi where a vehicle carrying Grade 9 examination papers submerged in the Zambezi River,” he said.

He however said the examination papers where quickly retrieved by local people using canoes, while the vehicle was pulled out of the water with the help of the Zambia National Service.

“There are no casualties and the examination papers have since been taken back to DEBS office and they are under lock and key,” he said.
