I AM SORRY, PF LEADER TELLS BLIND ASPIRANT

By CHARLES MUSONDA

PATRIOTIC Front Shiwang’andu district task force chairperson Michael Sikabalu has apologised to the party’s council chairperson candidate Makumba Peter Nsuluka whom he said had been rejected because of being blind.

On Tuesday, Mr. Sikabalu said the party and Shiwang’andu residents had rejected Mr. Nsuluka’s adoption because he is blind and not on the ground as compared to the preferred candidate, Sampa Bwali.  Mr. Sikabalu said in a phone interview yesterday that his utterances have upset the entire PF district leadership whose blessings he did not have before issuing his disparaging remarks against Mr. Nsuluka.

He apologised to Mr. Nsuluka, his family, and the entire local leadership on grounds that he spoke out of anger and frustration. He blamed himself for the condemnation he has received on grounds that he did not consult before making the remarks against Mr. Nsuluka.

He said Mr. Nsuluka did not choose to be born blind and that he is aware that the PF does not segregate people on account of their physical status.  Mr. Sikabalu said the ruling party is all inclusive and believes in President Edgar Lungu’s stance of not leaving anyone behind.

He said he was influenced by some members of a named opposition political party he belonged to before joining the PF.
