FARMERS BEGIN TO RECEIVE THEIR MONEY IN LIVINGSTONE

THE district administration in Livingstone has recommenced the payments of farmers who supplied their maize to the Food Reserve Agency (FRA) in the district.

The payments being done by Atlasmara Bank is for the  2020/2021 marketing farming season in Livingstone.

Livingstone District Commissioner Eunice Nawa said  government targets to pay 1, 600 farmers through the banks beginning on Thursday January 6, 2022.

Ms Nawa said that the exercise is expected to run  until January 14, 2022.

She commended the new dawn administration for putting the interest of the farmers as a priority by releasing funds to meet the needs of farmers.

Ms Nawa also reminded farmers to utilize the money they will be receiving wisely and plough it back into the land in order to help build the national food basket. 

And Atlasmara Bank Regional Branch Manager for Southern and Western, Mainga Dubeka Matamwandi disclosed that the bank has come up with a schedule to stager the payments.

Ms Mainga said the money will be paid according to depots in order to avoid overcrowding and observe the Covid-19 guidelines to avert the spread of the pandemic.
