US fighting ISIS

Dear Editor,

UPON ascendance to office of the USA presidency by Donald Trump, violence and security uncertainty has escalated in the Middle East.

Underlying the violence on the streets of Europe is the far greater violence inflicted upon the Middle East by US, British and French imperialism, working in conjunction with right-wing bourgeois regimes and the Islamist forces they promote, finance and arm. How do you explain the existence of these ISIS elements in the Middle East without the so called high tech military countries without knowing? Even in Mali-Africa, where French troops are in immense, insurgency escalates as though no one is available with the power to trace the funding of such activities. The military armament and personnel that these insurgencies use, are all manufactured and trained in the western world. How do they end up with these military high tech from the west? The Middle East Qatar episode is one example that the Western world   employs to exert their geopolitical presence in the Middle East. The control and manipulation of tribal hegemony in the Middle East among the Sunnis and Shiite is deliberately stoked as a confrontation between the Sunni regimes led by the Saudi monarchy and predominantly Shiite Iran. In Iraq, this conflict poses a threat of reigniting a bloody civil war, with or without ISIS.  These business entities that fund and equip the insurgency around the world live in western world. Even the people giving the orders for these attacks live in upper-class neighborhoods in London, Paris and elsewhere, enjoying close connections with intelligence agencies and government officials of western world. These funders will be found among the top ministers and government officials in Damascus if the US-backed war in Syria achieves its objectives. The pretext for the US continued military presence is that of preventing a resurgence of ISIS in Iraq. The real aim, however, is to further US geostrategic aims in the region, which include removing Iran as an obstacle to the imposition of unchallenged American hegemony over the oil-rich Middle East. Hence, the antagonistic approach on Qatar, which is perceived to fund terrorism just because of its soft spot for peace in the Middle East. America and its allies intend to stifle Qatar airline by imposing unwarranted sanctions and blockade against Qatar. This is inhuman, to say the least and UN should sound a warning to such “TRUMPED “acts against innocent persons, by leaving scot free the actual perpetrators of terrorism.

Congratulations to Mighty on thumping Red Arrows

Dear Editor,

I WISH to congratulate people’s team and the legendary cup fighters, Mighty Mufulira Wanderers Football Club on thumping the Zambia Air Force (ZAF) sponsored side, Red Arrows Football Club 2-1. This was during the MTN week 12 premier league fixture.

The game was played at Shinde Stadium on Saturday June 17, 2017. The victory registered by Mighty is the second one of the 2017 soccer season. It is good for the team.

Mighty has so far won 2 games, lost 7 games and drawn 4 games. It has amassed 10 points and lying at the bottom of the league.

The team registered a series of losses at the beginning of the season and in some instances lost by big margins. This is bad for the team like Mighty.

The myriad of losses were caused by the exodus of key players to other clubs during the previous off season.

At the moment, the team comprises mostly inexperienced players.

However, the Wilson Mwale tutored side can survive relegation despite the fact that the team is currently lying at the bottom of the league table. All that the team need is to work hard, remain focused and be resilient. Furthermore, the team should win as many games as possible.

During the mid break of the season, Mighty should consider recruiting some players to reinforce the team in all departments; the defence, midfield and upfront.

In my considered view, let me hasten to mention here that the team has now found the wining ways despite going through the bad patch this soccer season.

All the best to Mighty in the remaining league fixtures and congratulations on beating Red Arrows last Saturday.

Congrats Zanaco FC on beating Cotton Sport 1-0

Dear Editor,

AS an ardent soccer fan, I wish to congratulate the bankers sponsored outfit, Zanaco Football Club on beating the Cameroonian side, Cotton Sport Football Club 1-0 in the ongoing CAF Champions League football tournament.

The match was played in Cameroon on Wednesday June 21, 2017. The win has moved the team to the summit of Group D with 10 points, three better than second placed Al Ahly of Egypt and in third position is Wydad Casablanca of Morocco. Bottom placed is Cotton Sport of Cameroon without a point.

During the first half of the match, Cotton dominated the match and created a myriad of scoring opportunities and looking for goals but to no avail. The Zambia Super League champions, Zanaco were equal to the task. They denied the home side goals. However, Saith Sakala scored via a well executed shot in the 18 box in injury time to make it 1-0 for the bankers. Hence, amassing three vital maximum points.

Zanaco have not lost in this prestigious Africa football tournament. Our envoys in the CAF Champions League just need a point to progress to the quarter finals. The team is remaining with two games in Group D; one against the Egyptians giants, Al Ahly and the other one against Wydad Casablanca of Morocco.

The victory by Zanaco has made us proud. The Mumamba Numba tutored side, I say congratulations on beating Cotton Sport by a solitary goal courtesy of Saith Sakala. Go Zanaco and conquer Africa. With hard work, discipline and resience, you are capable of winning the coveted trophy.
