NKANA Water and Sewerage Company (NWSC)  says it has sourced US$200 million with the assistance from Government to help repair, expand and lay new water and sewer network system to improve service delivery.

NWSC public relations manager Bivan Saluseki said under the phase two project among other major works will be a pipe replacement of critical water transmission and sewer trunk mains, prepaid metering and construction of a new water intake in Chambishi Township.

Mr Saluseki said the water utility company had advanced in commencing the Nkana Water Support Supply   project   phase two following the approval of the Environment Impact Assessment by the Zambia Environment Management Agency.

He said the priority works schedule has been drawn and agreed upon for commencement in the next few months.

Mr Saluseki said the company had sensitised customers about the project and its impact on the community through public disclosures.

He said that the project was currently at design stage and after the Environmental Impact Assessment has been concluded.

“NWSC would have to divert the water and sewer lines to avoid demolishing houses that have been built on top of Nkana water infrastructure,” He said.
