LUMUMBA ROAD REPAIRS

Dear Editor

I AM wondering why the Road Development Agency has allowed Lumumba Road to deteriorate to a level where the gullies on the road are now life threatening.

Surely as a major trunk rout carrying heavy traffic through Lusaka, some effort should be made to remedy and rectify any damage that could create a danger to life and property.

At the moment this road is a danger to both and it will not be long before you hear of a major accident caused by a driver who may not be familiar with the  dangers posed by the huge potholes that have now invaded the road. The potholes are huge and certainly endanger trucks carrying containers which not be properly secures.

This is not to mention small cars that are totally vulnerable to serious damage.

All motorists are tax payers and there is no need for the Government to subject them to a road that is below even the most minimum standards.

Are some members of parliament more equal than others?

Dear Editor,

I KEEP on wondering whether some members of parliament are more important than others in the way their constituencies are treated.

Is it the manner in which they conduct themselves when it comes to the way national resources are apportioned among constituencies that matters most?

You will agree with me that in Zambia it is common to find certain constituencies much more developed than others.

One wonders what criteria is used by the Government to distribute resources.

If you take for instance, Kabwata constituency and compare it with our Munali Constituency, there is a very significant difference in terms of their development.

There are a lot of areas where we find disparities in terms of the way the different constituencies are developed.

When you are driving in Kabwata Constituency you will be thinking you are in another City probably in Europe where roads are next to total perfection.

What does the area MP Given Lubinda (who should keep it up anyway) do to convince the authorities at Road Development Agency (RDA) to do the roads in his constituency?

Is he more equal than other MPs like of Munali Constituency?  Most of the roads in Munali Constituency are so pathetic that driving on them becomes a nightmare whereas in Kabwata Constituency the roads are like heaven on Earth.

Why is this huge discrepancy when the resources are coming from the same source?

What sort of magic does Mr Lubinda use to beautify his constituency?

You will find every year, since PF started ruling, there will be at least some roads that are tarred in Kabwata Constituency but none in Munali.

Can somebody please explain this gigantic and unfair discrepancy because we are sick and tired of driving on these pot-holed and muddy roads in Munali Constituency?

We all vote for better services which are supposed to be distributed equally in all the constituencies.

I don’t think President Mr Edgar Lungu is aware of these discrepancies obtaining in these areas.

Our Government under the able party PF has very good intentions of developing each and every part of the nation but it seems this human element of unfair distribution of our national cake is the one at play, trying to undermine the good intentions of Government.

Illegal miners looting gold,  copper in  Kasempa

Dear Editor,

KASEMPA has a huge potential in gold and copper mining but mining development has been hampered by weak and misguided mining regulations in Zambia.

These weak regulations have allowed some selfish individuals in tandem with ‘tuntemba’ type of mine investors to engage in illegal acquisition of mine tenements and illegal mining.

They have done so:-

  1. without obtaining exploration or mining licences.
  2. without conducting exploration work.

3.without submitting Ore Body Statement and/or EIA Report to ZEMA.

No benefit to government or community they purport to represent.

And the BIG beneficiary from all these illegalities is UPND.

Bowman  Lusambo please make Lusaka great again

Dear Editor,

IT is important that you remind these guys in councils that Local Government is the lens for Government because they are expected to work closely with the community.

For once, Mr Lusambo please stand out from the crowd and make Lusaka great again.

How possible is it that these guys in councils even fail to pay good salaries when in fact, in other countries, local authorities as they are called, attract the best employees.

Let us bring it home, imagine all properties in Lusaka are expected to pay some form of levy to the councils and we all know it.

Why do they fail to collect this money and use it to plan the city, maintain cleanliness and order?

Please ensure that street vending ban is enforced to the book including the ban to sell air time at traffic light points or in traffic flows.

Lusambo boss tell the councillors to start collecting garbage in their constituencies.

In Lusaka West, Matero, Lilanda Estate, Lilanda and Chunga no one collects the garbage despite people being willing to pay for the services.

Indeed this MP of Matero is a big let-down. PF is losing Matero Constituency to the opposition in 2021 because of such an MP in the name Lloyd Kaziya. Patrick Salubusa in Lilanda can’t even organise a vehicle to collect the garbage.

Why can’t councillors use CDF money to buy trucks to collect garbage mwebantu. Ba Lusambo you can deliver. Work with these chaps called councillors. Concerned lusaka residents
