…Chipolopolo logends to use local brand against African Legends

KINGS of Africa, the organisers of the exhibition match involving the African Legends and the Chipolopolo Legends have confirmed that Chipolopolo will be dressed in the KoPa brand after reaching an agreement with the Football Association of Zambia (FAZ).

Kings of Africa said it listened to the complaints from the Zambian fans who were shocked to see their legends not in Chipolopolo colours during the Barcelona legends match played in May.

Meanwhile, Minister of Sports, Youth and Arts Elvis Nkandu applauded the visiting legends for agreeing to face the 2012 Chipolopolo AFCON winning legends in a match which will be televised by Super Sport.

Nkandu also hailed Kings of Africa for their commitment to host the African legends in Zambia a few months after hosting the Barcelona Legends.

He said in a speech read by Permanent Secretary Kangwa Chileshe during the welcoming ceremony of the African legends at Kenneth Kaunda International Airport yesterday, 

Nkandu appealed to Zambian football fans to troop to the Heroes Stadium to give the legends the needed support.

And Kings of Africa representative Antonio Wardy said the legendary match involving the African legends led by former Ghanaian footballer Anthony Baffoe who is the Deputy General Secretary of the Confederation of African Football promises to be action packed.

“A recap regarding the Barcelona game, it was an amazing game and I want to thank Zambians for turning up in numbers, it was really amazing. We did have some security issues which we have resolved and Saturday will be amazing and Zambians will be astonished,” Antonio said.

Zambia’s football icon Kalusha Bwalya will feature for the African legends expected to have the Nigerian trio of Jay Jay Okocha, Nwankwo Kanu and Daniel Amokachi.

Others are the Ghanaian trio of Asamoah Gyan, Gwadwo Asamoah and Stephen Appiah and the Cameroonian duo of Stephen Mbia and Patrick Mboma.

Zambians will also get a chance to watch former Arsenal and Real Madrid striker Emmanuel Adebayo and Senegalese legend El Hadji Diouf during the much-anticipated clash of the legend.

Zimbabwean legend Peter Ndlovu who played for English Premier League outfit Newcastle United, former Kaizer Chiefs legend Sipiwe Tshabalala who scored the first goal at the 2010 FIFA World Cup in South Africa and Mark Fish, the South African legend who was part of the historic Bafana Bafana squad that won the AFCON in 1996 made the cut for the 19-member squad to face the Zambian legends.
