Siavonga man detained over defilement

POLICE in Siavonga are holding a 30 year old of Kanyelele compound for allegedly defiling a 6 year girl.

Both District Commissioner Lovemore Kanyama and Police sources have confirmed the development to the Daily Nation in Siavonga.

“Yea I can confirm that police in Siavonga District are holding a man of Kanyelele compound aged between 30 – 34 years who defiled a 6 year old girl of the same compound,” said Kanyama.

He said the man is currently in police cells while police have continued with their investigations on case to establish the circumstances that led to the defilement.

And a Police source said the man was picked from his home after some neighbours to the girl reported the matter.

The source further said Police are taking the matter seriously considering the age of the defiled child.

And DC Kanyama has warned defilers in Siavonga that Police will not rest until all those with the habit of defiling small girls are brought to Book and advised Parents and guardians not to hesitate reporting defilement cases to Police and his office for prosecution.

He said he will not allow a situation where families settle defilement cases outside court  warning that those who will be found doing so will equally be arrested.

And in another development crocodiles have killed over 10 cows in Nampunga area along the Lake Kariba in Siavonga District.

Munyama Ward Councillor Charles Dubulamanzi confirmed the sad development in Siavonga.

Dubulamanzi appealed to National Parks officers to visit the area and crop the reptiles before human lives are lost.

He said the lake is the only source of water and livelihood for the people in the area and therefore the increased number of crocodiles on the lake was becoming a danger to community along the manmade water reservoir.
