PEOPLE in North Western Province should not worry about food insecurity because there will be enough food for them despite the stalk borer that ravaged some parts of the province, says senior marketing and business development officer Dennis Munachusa.

Mr Munachusa said the damage by stalk borer was not serious enough to cause worry.

“Yes, there were reports coming from districts over damage of crops by the stalk borer, but according to statistics, it’s just about 1 to 1.5 percent damage of crops in the entire region. So, that should not cause panic among the people,” he said.

He said the Ministry of Agriculture has been supportive in supplying chemicals to affected districts.

“So, this means that food insecurity in the province in terms of damage arising from stalk borers and Fall worms is not there. So I can confirm that we are still very much food secure,” he said.
