U-20 AfCON theme song launched

THE Ministry of sports youth and child Development yesterday launched the theme song for the 2017 Total Under 20 Africa Cup of Nations tournament which kicks off on February 26 in Lusaka.

Speaking during the launch, minister Moses Mawere said the unveiling of the tournaments theme song was an indication of governments’ commitment towards delivering a successful event.

He said that his ministry was closing up on preparations for the Under 20 AfCON and would in a few days from now be 100 percent ready to host the prestigious under -20  2017 Total AfCON .

“We are showing our commitment in preparing for the Under 20 AfCON which begins in a few days from now and our gratitude goes to everyone who has been involved in getting ready for the tournament,

“We are steadily closing up with the preparations. Right now we are 90 percent done with everything and in a few days from now we will be 100 percent ready,” Mawere said.

Mawere called on Zambians to take part in the tournament by turning up in large numbers at stadiums for the tournament to be a success.

“I would like to urge Zambians to take part in the tournament by tuning up in large numbers to support our boys as they represent Zambia at the tournament,

“The team is very much ready, the technical team is doing its best to ensure that the boys adequately prepare for the tournament,” he said. And FAZ president Andrew Kamanga expressed delight with the launch of the song noting that it was an indication of the associations’ commitment to promoting the tournament.

“Today marks a milestone in our preparations for the Total under 20  2017 AFCON and we are happy to be launching this song today and for those who have been complaining about the publicity of the tournament, I think now you understand our intentions towards promoting this tournament,” Kamanga said.

The under 20 theme song features Zambia most celebrated musicians Jordan Katembula popularly known as JK, Wille and Mozegeta.

And speaking after performing the song before Mawere, JK emphasized the need for Zambians to turnout in numbers for the AfCON.

“We thought of doing a song that would bring people together because like football, music also brings people together so we decided to compose something that would unite and make people dance,

“Therefore I would like to call on Zambians to come together and support our junior Chipolopolo,” he said.

Zambia will for the first time host the Total  2017 Under-20 Africa Cup of Nations and has been placed in group A together  with Egypt, Guinea and Mali.
