INDIVIDUALS scheming to cause confusion during the allocation of trading spaces in markets with appropriate sanitary facilities today will be severely dealt with in accordance with law, Home Affairs Minister Steven Kampyongo had warned.

And Mr. Kampyongo has said government will not condone foreign nationals conducting illegal activities and causing confusion in the country.

Speaking to journalist yesterday, Mr. Kampyongo said the Zambia police service and other law enforcement agencies would deploy adequate officers on the ground to ensure that those wishing to disturb public order are identified and dealt with. He also stated that individuals pretending to champion the cause of law abiding street vendors and Marketeers cannot deceive government because government had been working with street vendors and Marketeers since 2011.

He revealed that it had come to his ministry attention that individuals who are neither street vendors nor Marketeers were trying to disrupt programmes for those trading in recognised markets.

Meanwhile Mr. Kampyongo said all foreign nationals who trade illegally on the streets and markets should leave the country on their own accord.

He said the immigration department would be involved in the allocation of trading spaces to ensure only Zambians and foreign nationals with legal documents were allocated trading places.
