Stop political purge at ACC, says Tutwa

By NATION REPORTER

THERE is serious political persecution going on at the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) as professionals are being targeted on suspicions that they are affiliated to the former ruling party, former Kabwe Central Member of Parliament Tutwa Ngulube has said.

Mr Ngulube said a number of competent lawyers had been fired because it was suspected that they belonged to the opposition.

He said this purge however had a negative impact because most of the lawyers that were handling the cases were not very experienced.

“I can confirm that there is a purge at ACC as most people have been fired just because they are from a certain region and are seen to be sympathisers of the PF,” he said.

Mr Ngulube said this trend needed to stop because as was the case the ACC were losing a number of cases because they had removed all the competent lawyers.

He said that this form of persecution needed to stop because people with qualifications were being persecuted due to their perceived political affiliation.

“I know a number of good lawyers that have suffered the chop just because they are suspected to be political which is not the case,” Mr Ngulube said.
