Expedite projects, Lungu directs treasury

EXPEDITE infrastructure development and all projects that have stalled, President Edgar Lungu has directed the treasury.

In a statement made available to the Daily Nation, President Lungu said there was urgent need to speed up infrastructure development across the country.

President Lungu said he was particularly disappointed when he toured projects which had stalled for a long time in Muchinga province.

He said this when he addressed selected minsters and technocrats to agree on rationale for  both on-going and new projects.

President Lungu said there was need to strengthen Public Private Partnerships (PPP) to improve the rate at which projects run.

He directed that all stalled projects should be completed before commencing knew ones.

Meanwhile, minsters have agreed to meet at Statehouse to strikeout a new strategy to respond to the President’s concerns.

This meeting was attended by Finance minister Felix Mutati, Higher Education minister Nkandu Luo, General Education minister Dennis Wanchinga and Infrastructure and Housing minister,  Ronald Chitotela.
