CROOKS have ganged up against President Edgar Lungu and are now claiming to be ‘messiahs’ when they are actually criminals, Patriotic Front (PF) Copperbelt Provincial Chairperson Stephen Kainga has charged.

Mr Kainga said those who had ganged up against the president were fraudsters, some he claimed had forged signatures of their business partners and were involved in the illegal allocation of land.

Mr Kainga said some of those accusing the PF and President Lungu of being corrupt were the worst fraudsters who when in government had no regard for ordinary people.

“As PF, we don’t want to be exchanging words with some of these fraudsters and swindlers because they are bitter and desperate. If a person can swindle people out of millions of Kwacha in illegal allocation of land, what kind of a leader is that person?” Mr Kainga said.

And Mr Kainga has said critics of the PF government Infrastructure development programme would be ashamed because this programme would produce quality works and give a facelift to various parts of the country.

He said quality works being done on roads, bridges and other infrastructure in the country had been generally accepted by people who understand the vital role infrastructure plays in national development.

He said the concrete block which had been put up on the Nkana East Traffic lights along the Ndola-Ktwe dual carriage-way had been appreciated by motorists who were previously were struggling to avoid perpetual potholes which the Kitwe City Council (KCC) had lamentably failed to fix for many years.

He said a number of infrastructure projects being carried out on the Copperbelt would help to ease transportation of goods and promote business in various parts of the country.

He said the construction of the modern international Airport in Ndola was another big project that would to bring development to the Copperbelt.

“Those who hate President Lungu and are driven by bitterness and jealousy and will not say good things about the infrastructure development.

He also said the construction of the Nakonde-Mbala Road, Mbala-Kasama Road, Kasama-Luwingu Road, Luwingu-Mansa Road and Mansa Mufulira Roads would open up Mufulira and the rest of the Copperbelt to a lot of business opportunities.

“I think government is set to open up Mufulira to business opportunities at Mokambo border post through the construction of road infrastructure starting from Nakonde and connecting the Northern Province to Luapula and Copperbelt through Mufulira at Mokambo border Post.

“With a properly done Pedicle Road and the business hours extended at Mokambo Border Post, it will be easy to transport goods and people. Business activities will also be promoted at the border and the entire Mufulira town,” He said.

“Yes, we may face challenges as a nation, just like any other nation has its own challenges, but the fact of the matter is that President Lungu has performed well in terms of infrastructure development and deserves support.

“The infrastructure development like the ones being done in various parts of the country will help to develop the agriculture sector, mining, manufacturing and other sectors,” He said.
