“WE put Jay Jay (the abducted and now missing Petauke Central Member of Parliament) in our prayers and we hope he is found safe wherever he is,” Jack Mwiimbu, the Minister of Home Affairs and Internal Security has said.

Mr Mwiimbu yesterday publicly admitted that the government does not know where Mr Banda, the missing Petauke Central independent legislator was two days after he went missing mysteriously.

Mr Mwiimba says Government has no hand in the alleged abduction of Mr Banda and has appealed to anyone with information to alert the investigative security agencies.

And Government has accused Ms Edith Nawakwi, the Forum for Democracy and Development (FDD) president and Brebner Changala, a civil rights and political activist of inciting Zambians to rise against the state by making what it has termed alarming and seditious statements.

“We put Jay Jay in our prayers and hope he is found safe where he is,” Mr Mwiimbu said.

Police on Saturday picked up Mr. Banda’s abandoned vehicle in Lusaka’s Ibex Hill area which was found with its doors open and his two phones inside.

According to police spokesperson, Mr. Rae Hamoonga, the search at the scene indicated that police around 03:30 found a white Toyota Land Cruiser, registration number 3979, about 2.6 kilometres from Twin Palm police station.

And Mr. Mwiimbu at a media briefing in Lusaka yesterday, urged the opposition parties who want to make political mileage out of the disappearance of Mr Banda to stop. CLICK HERE TO READ MORE
