Confed Cup group rise earns Chisi Mbewe ZAF staff car

By BENEDICT TEMBO ZAMBIA Air Force (ZAF) Commander Oscar Nyoni, has fulfilled his promise to facilitate the effective execution of Red Arrows head coach, Chisi Mbewe’s official duties by allocating him a staff vehicle from the service. The vehicle, registration number ZAF-4623B, was handed over to Warrant Officer Class Two (WOII) Mbewe yesterday following Arrows’ historic qualification for the African Confederations Cup Group Stage. Speaking during the handover ceremony at ZAF Headquarters in Lusaka, Lieutenat General Nyoni said the staff vehicle allocation was in line with established Air Force tradition, under which the Red Arrows Head Coach is entitled to an official vehicle to support the effective performance of his duties. He explained that the decision followed a request by the Red Arrows Football Club president for a vehicle to help the coach in carrying out his responsibilities, assuring the Club that one would be provided when available. According to ZAF media, Lt Gen Nyoni said the team’s qualification to the lucrative group phase coincided with the fulfilment of that commitment, providing an opportunity to formally present the vehicle to W0II Mbewe. “The vehicle is intended to enable you to perform your duties effectively. It will help you move from one point to another and report promptly at the stadium to prepare the team,” Lt Gen Nyoni said. While the Air Force aspired to provide personnel with the necessary resources to perform their responsibilities efficiently, Lt Gen Nyoni said such provisions were guided by the applicable conditions of service and the availability of resources. He said the allocation had received support from members of the Arrows Technical bench, who recognised the importance of equipping the Head Coach to perform his responsibilities effectively. The Commander congratulated the Club on its continental achievement and wished WOII Mbewe and the team success in their forthcoming assignments in the domestic League and CAF Confederation Cup. The handover ceremony was attended by the Deputy Air Force Commander and Chief of Air Staff (COAIRS), Major General Henry Chiwaya, Chief of Training, Geoffrey Hambulo, Chief of General Engineering, Edson Lungomesha, Arrows Football Club president, Moses Kambimbi and his executive committee as well as members of the club’s technical bench. The gesture underscores ZAF’s continued institutional support for Arrows as the Club prepares to compete on both domestic and international front.
