Witness testifies in Saboi Imboela defamation case

I AM the one who built the house of State House media director Clayson Hamasaka, not the Chinese firm as purported by National Democratic Congress (NDC) leader Saboi Imboela’s facebook page, an Architect at Soar Construction Solution Limited testified in court.

Mr. Mulando Hachombe, 35, told the Lusaka magistrate court that he entered into a contract with Mr Hamasaka and his wife Pamela Hamasaka to provide labour service’s for the building of his house not the Chinese firm. 

In this matter, Imboela, 45, of Lilayi pleaded not guilty to two counts of libel contrary to Section 191 of the Penal Code Chapter 87 of the Laws of Zambia.

When the matter came up yesterday for continuation of trial before magistrate Sylvia Munyinya, Mr. Hachombe testified that the company was paid a labour rate for the works to be done on site.

It is alleged that Imboela on September 9, 2022 jointly and whilst acting together with other persons unknown, with intent to defame, unlawfully did publish defamatory matters “Against Clayson Hamasaka on a Facebook page called SABOI IMBOELA-SI stating as follows “his farm is being developed by the Chinese & is the character I said had permanent rooms and hotels, sleeping with women that want jobs in the UPND. You are the ghost terrorizing women. “

The matter has been adjourned to February 21, 2023 for continuation of trial.
