MUZA beat Cano Sport 3-0 to complete a 4-1 aggregate victory after picking a 1-1 stalemate in the first leg played a week ago in Equatoria Guinea.

Strikers, Kondwani Mhango, Andrew Phiri and speedy winger Bobo Angwenya ware the heroes of the day for MUZA as their goals guaranteed a win for the Mazabuka based Super League outfit which is making its debut appearance in the CAF Interclub championship.

Mhango rose high to head in Bobo Angwenga’s sublime Conner to give MUZA the crucial 2-0 lead before Phiri converted a penalty after a Cano Sports defender handled the ball inside the eighteen yard box ten minutes before the hour mark.

Three minutes after the hour mark, Mhango returned the favor and provided a perfect assist for Bobo Angwenya who beat Cano Sports goal keeper Marcos Luis Ondo with a low close range strike to give MUZA a 3-0 advantage.

Cano Sport who were stunned 5-2 by Sensational Zanaco FC at Heroes Stadium in 2019 couldn’t recover from the setbacks and bowed out of the competition.

“It was a tough game. FC MUZA played a good game. We didn’t have some of our key players but that is not an excuse. We are an academy and we have picked lessons from this game and I must thank the people of Zambia for the good hospitality. This is the second time we are coming here after we played Zanaco in 2019 and Zambians have always been good to us,” Cano Sports head coach Casto Nopo said in a post-match interview.

For MUZA FC progress to the next round presents the Mazabuka based outfit another opportunity to fight and win the CAF Confederations Cup.

FC Muza join Zambian Champions Power Dynamos who progressed to the second preliminary round of the CAF Champions League after the Kitwe giants beat African Stars 1-0 to progress with a 2-2 aggregate draw thanks to an away goal rule after 2-1 defeat in the away fixture played last weekend in South Africa.

MUZA will now meet Diables Noir of Congo Brazzaville in the next round of the CAF Confederations Cup. The winner of the two legged fixture will match in to the Group Stage of the continental championship.
