Mutapa ditches Nkwazi FC

HIGH Flying Nkwazi FC’s quest to challenge for the MTN Zambia Super League title suffered a major setback after head coach Osward Mutapa left the club.

Nkwazi confirmed Mutapa’s departure in a statement issued by its Media and Public Relations Officer Jeff Mwape. 

Mutapa is alleged to have signed a deal to replace Mwenya Chipepo as Power Dynamos FC head coach.

Nkwazi noted that first assistant coach Dennis Makinka bounces back as head coach and and will be assisted by Keegan Phiri, second assistant Edward Kangwa, and Lawrence Lubinda.

Nkwazi have maintained Billy Mwanza and Samuel Ngulube as physical trainer and goalkeeper coach respectively.

“The management and executive committee of Nkwazi FC has thanked Mutapa for the services, hard work dedication he rendered to the team during his stay as head coach of Nkwazi Football Club. As a club we would like to wish Coach Osward Mutapa the very best in his future endeavours.”

Mutapa, who helped Nkwazi to survive relegation last season leaves the club on fifth position on the FAZ Super League table with 30 points collected from eight wins, six draws and five losses.

Nkwazi have struggled with two consecutive defeats in the last two games and trail the league leaders Zesco United by six points.

Meanwhile, in the absence of interim head coach Dennis Makinka who is attending a CAF A coaching course, assistant coach Keegan Phiri will take over the as head coach.
