WE are headed for a resounding victory in Masaiti because we have done our ground work to ensure that we get maximum votes in the by-election, PF candidate Christine Chande has said.

Commenting on today’s by-election in which she has been pitted against UPND’s Ennie Matutu for the district chairperson position, Ms. Chande said victory was inevitable for the PF because the party was stronger than any other party in the area.

She said she had been overwhelmed by the support she had been getting from the electorates on the ground and that going by massive rallies the party had in the area, there was no turning back for the march to glory.

“Our rally at Mushikishi has encouraged me very much as people turned up in big numbers and this has been the state of affairs since we kick-started the campaigns. From here, we are heading to Lumano. So far, I am overjoyed by the crowds we have been pulling and I can gladly say that we are headed for a resounding victory as PF,” Ms. Chande said.

Efforts to get a comment from Ms. Matutu proved futile as her contacts were unavailable.

The by-elections in Masaiti district were necessitated following the resignation of the council chairperson, Edward Musamba.
