The Lusaka Playhouse will on Saturday host a special tribute and memorial service starting at 08:45 hours at the Playhouse.

This is according to an announcement by National Arts and Theatre Association of Zambia (NATAZ) secretary general Henry B.J Sakala.

According to BJ, this special occasion is meant to allow all artists and the general public to celebrate the lives of the two gallant actors. The service will later be followed by a special naming ceremony of two roads selected in Kabwata Constituency under the support from the area MP and Minister of Justice Given Lubinda.

“You are all invited to the memorial service of our departed gallant actors Greg Lungu and Augustine Lungu to be held at the Lusaka Playhouse. After the service, the gathering will proceed to Kabwata Constituency led by Hon. Given Lubinda to honor the two with a naming ceremony of two selected roads,” said Henry B.J

Recently, Hon. Lubinda honored late singer Joe Chibangu by naming one of the roads in his Constituency after him. For this reason B.J says the arts sector is very pleased with the support from the minister who is commonly referred to as a friend to the arts.

And BJ adds that the naming ceremony will be followed by a special mingling gala at the Playhouse to be hosted by the Sakala Brothers amidst a display of comedy, music and dance from various artistes.

The late Greg and Augustine will remain as very creative and dedicated members of the arts sector that contributed a great deal to the growth of arts in Zambia. August Lungu died in 2009, years after Greg Lungu’s death.
