WOODLANDS stadium developer Forli Limited has invested US$2 million in the refurbishment of infrastructure and adjacent community shops as at August, 2017.

This is revealed in a letter dated September 22 to Zambia Environmental Management Agency (ZEMA), responding to the group of individuals calling themselves “community members” who questioned the club’s relationship with the developer and licensing of the club.

The letter signed by City of Lusaka FC chairperson of the board of trustees Christine Mulundika says that Forli which owns 59 percent shares in the club was committed to transforming Woodlands Stadium to a modern facility.

“The passion and commitment shown by the developer can be appreciated from genuinely concerned stakeholders given the colossal amounts of investment made to approve the performance of the club,” the letter reads in part.

It also says that the developer supplemented the costs to ensure that the football team trained and fulfilled the Super League fixtures.

“The sponsor has to date committed in excess of US$2 million for the refurbishment of the stadium and stadium adjacent community shops.  This is part of the construction of the Lewanika Mall which requires over US$15 million to complete,

“These commercial structures will be to support the future sustainability of the football team and should be used as a sustainable model for football in Africa.”
