Lusaka wife stabber on the run

POLICE in Lusaka are still looking for a man of Chipata Township who allegedly stabbed his 40-year-old wife.

Ms Beatrice Sakala was on July 23 2017 unlawfully wounded by her husband and sustained a deep cut on the right arm and lips.

Zambia Police public relations officer Esther Katongo told the Daily Nation in an interview that the suspect, only identified as Alfred, was still on the run.

Ms Katongo urged the public who might have information on the whereabouts of the suspect to report to the police so that he could be arrested.

Meanwhile, the victim who was admitted to the University Teaching Hospital was on Wednesday discharged but has continued receiving medical attention from home.

UTH public relations officer Natalie Mashikolo described Ms Sakala’s condition as stable and responding well to treatment.

The victim’s mother, Ms Christine Mwelwa said taking care of her sick daughter from home was costly as she required many things.

Ms Mwelwa said her business had suffered because she could not leave the patient alone as she had no one to help her.

“I am not happy that my daughter is in this condition, I will appreciated if the culprit is caught and punished for his actions although the final decision must be made by the victim,” Ms Mwelwa said.
