KASAMA central Member of Parliament (MP) Kelvin Sampa has slammed the Police for blocking Kabwe MP Tutwa Ngulube from meeting his constituents, saying the police acted unprofessionally.

Mr Sampa charged that the police officers that disrupted the meeting chaired by the area MP lacked professionalism, adding that their behaviour leaves much to be desired.

And in apparent reference to the Kabwe incident, the Zambia police service said all those who wanted to convene public meetings or processions should inform the police in writing to avoid engaging in altercations with law enforcers.

Armed police officers on Saturday blocked Kabwe PF MP Tutwa Ngulube from addressing his constituents, saying he should be telling them every time he was in his constituency.

Mr Ngulube claimed the police were sent by corrupt people but vowed to continue speaking for the voiceless against corrupt individuals.

Mr Sampa told the Daily Nation that it was uncalled for, for police officers to disrupt a meeting that was chaired by an MP.

He said it was unfortunate that there was discourse between the MP and the law enforcers who were supposed to recognise and respect the latter.
