Share progressive ideas that can help Zambia prosper, a non-governmental organisation has told politicians.

In an interview, Change Mind-set Zambia (CMZ) chairperson, Geoffrey Musonda, said politicians, regardless of their political affiliation, should work together for national development.

Mr. Musonda said opposition politicians’ duty was to provide checks and balances to the party in government.

He said the opposition must contribute to national economic growth because Zambia was not for the ruling party alone.

“There is need for some political players, who always shun participation in development matters that add value to national prosperity, to change their mind-set,” Mr. Musonda said.

He said it was important for the opposition to work with the ruling party and share positive ideas for the good of the nation.

The CMZ chief said the opposition leaders must discard their belief that it was only them who could develop Zambia when ushered into office.

He said Zambia had capacity to develop into an adorable country on the African continent if all political parties worked together in national interest.

“First republican President Dr. Kenneth Kaunda and other national founding fathers lived with the One Zambia One Nation motto, which is still uniting Zambians, because they were eager to develop the country regardless of their social or political background,” Mr Musonda said.

He said the opposition and the ruling Patriotic Front needed each other in national transformation by sharing plans to uplift people’s living standards.
