PRESIDENT Edgar Lungu says he will not be held hostage by people who are demanding for the firing of some people in his cabinet as governance is a corporate responsibility other than and individual task.

President Lungu said it was unfortunate that there were people who were asking him to fire some people on account that they were not working.

He said he would not be swayed into making such decisions but would rather advise those who were seemingly not working to the best of their abilities to step up their efforts.

“To develop this country is not solely my duty alone because we all work together with team spirit. It is like in football where you cannot just say remove that player because he has failed to play well then that player is removed immediately. You identify where the weak links are and advise that player to step up his effort.

“I know that a lot of people have been calling for the removal of some people from Government but that is not the way you operate. We are working as a team and we will continue advising those who are not doing well to step up their efforts so that together we can deliver because if we fail, we will fail as a team,” President Lungu said.
