RUN MINES PROFESSIONALLY, SAYS MAYORAL CANDIDATE

By SANFROSSA MANYINDA

GOVERNMENT should not politicise the mines but to run them run without interference in order to achieve sustainable development, PF Chilillabombwe Mayoral aspirant Gift Musukwa has said.

Mr Musukwa said as much as there was emphasis on economic diversification from mining to agriculture, the country should not diversify on borrowed money.

He said allowing politicking take center stage in the mines should not be tolerated and that Jobs should only be given to qualified Zambians while contracts should be awarded to deserving companies with proper audit.

Mr Musukwa was speaking in Chililabombwe yesterday.

“I would also love to welcome the move on the takeover of KCM and Mopani Copper Mines. The move must be supported by all Zambians because it will definitely benefit all in the long run.

“Benefits cannot be seen now due to one or two pending issues pertaining to the full take over if all modalities are put in place and full production is achieved, Zambia will be at a trajectory of economic recovery, growth and definitely diversification will be achieved,” he said.
