A LUSAKA pastor is to appear in court for allegedly raping an 18-year-old girl who was entrusted to him for spiritual cleansing and sponsorship to school.
Police spokesperson, Rae Hamoonga said George Phiri, aged 30, a pastor of United End of Times Church in Kanyama compound has been charged and arrested for the offence of rape.
Mr. Hamoonga said in a statement that the victim was being kept by the accused at his house although the two are not related.
He said the pastor took advantage of the situation and took her to a lodge within Kanyama and explained that she had a problem with her stomach which could only be healed through sexual intercourse.
Mr. Hamoonga said police received a medical report which has since been signed and the findings are consistent with the allegations.
He said the accused who was released on police bond would appear in court soon.
