HH BLAMES POOR ECONOMY ON ‘WEAK’ PF LEADERSHIP

By Irvin Muyumbwa
President Hakainde Hichilema has charged that the weak leadership that the country was subjected to since 2015 led to a drop in the performance of the economy.
President Hichilema says when the leadership was weak and lost control of public resources, the economy went down almost instantaneous and the curve of growth dropped while the debt curve went up.
President Hichilema says his leadership will not drop this curve further because already, this has been stabilizing in the last three months of the UPND in government which is sending a signal of what is coming.
President Hichilema says those who served the country in public office over the last few years cannot in any way prove that they were there to serve the country based on the manner they ran things.
President Hichilema was speaking at State House when he swore in eight Permanent Secretaries and the Disaster Management and Mitigation Unit DMMU National Coordinator.
And President Hichilema said his first 100 days in office was a period used to identify and understand where the leakages in the running of the economy came from.
He says now that the leakages have been identified, the Zambian people will begin to appreciate and enjoy improved leadership in the running of the economy.
President Hichilema yesterday swore in Patrick Mucheleka as permanent secretary for special duties at Cabinet Office, Maambo Hamaundu permanent secretary for administration in the ministry of Local Government and Rural Development, Evans Muhanga Permenent secretary in the Ministry of Tourism, Dr Gabriel Pollen as the Disaster Management and Mitigation Unit (DMMU) national coordinator, and Norman Chipakupaku as permanent secretary in the Ministry of Defence.
Others are Kusobile Kamwambi as permanent secretary Management division at cabinet office, Siazongo Siakalenge as Deputy Secretary to the cabinet finance and economic development, Mainga Dorcas Kabika as permanent secretary Gender division at cabinet office and Mwamba Peni as Permanent secretary for remuneration division at cabinet office.
