ZAMBEEF and MTN Zambia have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) which will enable the mobile network provider deliver mobile money products across all Zambeef outlets countrywide effective next week.

The joint venture will also benefit from the scale, combined expertise and market access of both companies, to provide a strong basis to compete in the business environment.

The provision of MTN services will be rolled out in 120 sites in all 10 Provinces with the pilot outlets being in Lusaka.

Speaking at the signing ceremony in Lusaka, Zambeef Executive Director, Yusuf Koya, said the partnership would create new revenue streams for both companies, help achieve significant scale and explore opportunities in new markets and segments.

He said the partnership would further help capitalise on the growth of mobile services in Zambia.

“The partnership will also allow us to further extend our client focussed vision across the country,” he said.

He said piloting the new partnership would begin in the next few weeks and that all outlets would be able to use the service by September 2017.

And MTN Zambia Chief Executive Officer, Charles Molapisi, said the partnership provided an opportunity for his company to further expand its services.

Mr Molapisi explained that MTN Zambia would be able to harness the rapid growth in mobile use in the country.

“Working with Zambeef, we will be able to leverage our core capabilities, strong brands and scale to deliver much-needed business solutions to both Zambeef and our customers,” he said.

He said MTZ Zambia had over 450 mobile money customers accessing the services.
