PF Mufulira deputy mayor suspended

THE Patriotic Front (PF) on the Copperbelt has distanced itself from the incidence in which a nude picture of Mufulira deputy mayor Beatrice Kapasa has gone viral. Party Provincial chairperson Steven Kainga has disclosed that the party has since suspended Ms Kapasa from party activities, describing the incidence as an embarrassment to the women folk.

He said the party has given Ms. Kapasa an ultimatum to exculpate herself failure to which she would face disciplinary action. Mr Kainga said this should serve as a warning to other leaders on their conduct as they represented not only themselves but the party as a whole. This is a matter on which Ms. Kapasa allegedly sent a nude picture of herself accidentally to the party’s WhatsApp page which has since gone viral on social media and has published in the print media.

In a separate interview, Cultural and Traditional counsellors Association president Sitwala Mulonda bemoaned that the basic values of respecting womanhood had been lost. Ms. Mulonda said it was shameful that women had ended up exposing what was not to be seen in the public domain. She lamented that the country was unfortunately slipping into a domain where tradition values and respect for ones sexuality were being lost. “I find it upsetting that it’s women that have evaded the social media exposing their nudity and not men.

“Even when we host night events to teach women, they are fond of recording or filming with their phones and disseminating the footage via social media. “Such is taught in secrecy and it is emphasized but our ladies today have taken it lightly. “If you look at our men folk, have we ever witnessed a man who is coming from circumcision exposing his body?” she lamented.

Mrs. Mulonda said the problem of lost African identities could only be overcome if children were guided. She indicated that elders needed to take their time off and show youths that to be African meant that one adhered to certain values.
