Kachingwe mocks Nevers

By SIMON MUNTEMBA

NEVERS Mumba’s hijack of the Movement for Multi-party Democracy (MMD) and use of the party for personal gains is what has tarnished the former ruling party, former MMD national secretary Major Richard Kachingwe has said.

Maj Kachingwe said MMD had been losing elections because Zambians do not believe in failed ideologies.

He was reacting to sentiments by Dr Mumba that MMD predecessors had tarnished the image of the opposition party leading to it performing poorly during elections.

Maj Kachingwe said the current MMD under Dr Mumba’s leadership was not a political party but just a fundraising venture.

He said it was an illusion for Dr Mumba to think he would win the August 12 election because the people of Zambia do not believe in his ideologies, values and principles.

He also accused Dr Mumba of having hijacked MMD, monopolised and changed its original constitution to suit his ego.

“That party is longer what it was. The original constitution has been changed. They are paying for hijacking the party which is not theirs. People have lost interest in it because it is a hijacked party which has drifted from the original MMD. And after he hijacked the party, people have moved on,” Maj Kachingwe said.

He added that Dr Mumba would be lucky to get one percent in the August 12 tripartite elections because people do not trust him.

“It is an illusion or wishful thinking for Dr Nevers Mumba to think he will win the 2021 elections. It is like telling people that you are standing on the rock when on sand. I don’t think he will be able to get even one percent in the upcoming elections. He will be lucky to get one percent.

“No one is even paying attention to his MMD, as far as I am concerned, that party is gone. For me, that is not a political party but just a fundraising venture,” he said.
