OPPOSITION UPND are playing mafia type of politics which are aimed at destabilising the peace and freedom the nation has enjoyed in the last 52 years,  says PF chairperson for Elections Jean Kapata.

In an interview yesterday, Ms Kapata said it was criminal for the UPND to suggest that she had issued a letter to police to organise for security in Matero for political rally when there no such a thing being planned by her party.

She said the letter in circulation suggesting to be from her office to the police command was a forgery by UPND to attract public sympathy over police’s refusal to allow them a permit to hold a rally in Kanyama.

Ms. Kapata said only mafias had the capacity to take the route the UPND have taken to scandalise the nation and government in power.

“I did not author that letter in circulation. Right now I am on the Copperbelt and people are asking me about it. It’s only Mafias who have no interest of the country at heart can do that. I know it is UPND’s scheme to scandalise government and the PF,” she said.

Ms. Kapata has since warned the UPND to desist from dragging the PF and President Edgar Lungu’s name into their schemes.

She said she would lodge an official complaint to police to investigate the forged letter to bring to book people behind the scheme.

“It’s only UPND who can do that. These are bitter people with a bitter leadership.  All they crave for is disunity and chaos in the nation.  But I have to warn them that we shall not allow it at all cost. We are running a country with over 15 million people and not a club like theirs,” she said.

A letter has emerged purporting to have been issued by Ms. Kapata instructing police Inspector General Joshua Kanganja to provide security for the rally in Matero to be addressed by President Edgar Lungu.
