‘China trade good for Zambia’

A COPPERBELT based Chinese businessman Xi Lee says the current Chinese investments in Zambia are important for the latter’s economic and social growth.

In an interview in Kitwe, Mr Xi said Zambia was a good investment haven in Africa for Chinese companies because the country had good business and investment policies.

He said because of Africa’s political and economic stability, Zambia was a good investment destination for the Chinese investors who were eager to contribute to transformation of the country’s commerce and trade.

Mr Xi said since 1964, the Chinese investors had enjoyed a good investment relationship with Zambia in various economic sectors such as agriculture, mining, construction, manufacturing and other industries.

The Chinese businessman said over the years Zambia was steadily developing due to the massive investments the Chinese investors had made.

He this had seen creation of employment opportunities for Zambians.

Mr. Xi said China was Zambia’s all-weather business friend for more than half a century as his country had been instrumental in helping the latter build various infrastructure since independence from Britain in 1964.

He said the Chinese investors had huge investments in Zambia because the local investment laws respected the investors’ fundamental business rights.
