POLICE in Ndola have arrested three Patriotic Front officials and a newspaper vendor and charged them with conduct likely to cause a breach of peace.

Meanwhile, Kopala ECL die hard group coordinator Joseph Musonda has accused police of bringing up trumped up charges to silence the movement.

Speaking in an interview with journalists, Mr.Musonda accused some senior party officials of having influenced the arrest of the suspects.

He indicated that the group will not be intimidated with arrests as their loyalty was to President Lungu.

“The case against our members cannot be substantiated. It all started on Thursday last week when President Lungu visited Copperbelt.

“While at the Airport waiting to receive him, one of the group members did engage the Ndola Town clerk Mr. Wisdom Bwalya.

Copperbelt Police commissioner Charity Katanga confirmed the development but declined to give details.  Ms. Katanga told Daily Nation that she was locked up in a meeting and could not comment.

However police sources said those detained at Ndola Central police headquarters are Geoffrey Chulu, Kingsley Chumbu Mutale, Maybin Mutono and Derby Kasalwe.

The prosecution office, confirmed having received an indictment for the suspects who will soon appear in court.

“Three suspects were apprehended on Monday while the fourth person reported himself yesterday and they have since been jointly charged,” said the sources
