GOVERNMENT has installed a cellular communication tower in Chief Shaibila’s chiefdom in Mkushi, a civic leader has said.

Nshinso Ward Councillor Xaviour Chisenga confirmed the development to the Daily Nation in interview.

Mr. Chisenga said government through Huwae, a Chinese company, had mounted an 85m high Zamtel cellular communication tower with radius of about 30km to 40km meant to improve communication in the ward.

He noted that, lack of proper communication facilities in the vicinity was hampering development as well as growth of businesses.

He observed that communication was one major component of development and that there would be no meaningful development without a reliable communication system in the area.

“It is for this reason that as Nshinso ward, we are really happy and thank the Patriotic Front (PF) government Lungu for considering us in communication development.

“Following this gesture, communication challenges we have been facing will be alleviated. We are looking forward to see more communication towers installed for better communication,” Mr.Chisenga said.

He added that plans were underway for MTN and Airtel to mount their communications dishes on the same Zamtel tower so that people in the area could enjoy services of all the three cellular networks.
