Maintain peace, Nkomesha urges Zambians

HER Royal Highness, Chieftainess Nkomesha Mukamambo ll of the Soli people has urged Zambians to continue being peaceful if the country was to continue registering development.

And Chieftainess Nkomesha indicated that it was due to the hospitality and peaceful nature of the Zambian people that the American people, especially the families that they have allowed their relatives to come and serve in Zambia as Peace Corp volunteers. In an interview with the Daily Nation during the Peace Corp Zambia swearing-in ceremony on Thursday, the traditional leader who was represented by her Senior Advisor, John Luputa said it was important for Zambians to remain peaceful for the sake of development.

She noted that it was because of the conducive environment and the hospitality that the Zambians have shown to the outside world that the country has continued to receive international visitors.

“It is my appeal, therefore, that let us continue, to be hospitable ,always be peaceful and hunger for development in all spheres of our livelihoods,” Chieftainess Nkomesha said.

The traditional leader emphasized the need to co-exist by being hospitable.

She disclosed that her Chiefdom have hosted the Peace Corps trainees during their pre-service trainings, adding that the trainees became part and parcel of her household.

Chieftainess Nkomesha added that the interaction between Zambia and American Peace corps volunteers borders on issues of local language and culture as well as economic development.

She further thanked the American government for its continued support of improving Zambia’s skilled human resource.
