KAMBWILI IS UNGRATEFUL

Dear Editor,

Ba Kambwili please slow down. The same government you are accusing of wanting to kill you actually saved your life. It was revealed in Parliament by Health Minister Dr Chitalu Chilufya that when you were in an accident, the government dispatched ambulances which helped resuscitate you. Nangutautasha.

You should be thankful because if they were vindictive as you claim, they would have let you go. But you are here insulting and accusing them when you should be kneeling before them saying thank you.

Remember that lesa ni malyotola.

President Lungu is too tolerant

Editor,

I think that our President is too tolerant. That is why people like Chishimba Kambwili and his friend HH think they can insult at will.

I doubt late president Michael Sata would have tolerated this nonsense from these hooligans of politics.

In the days of UNIP and Kaunda, definitely they wouldn’t have dared vomit the nonsense they vomit nowadays.

Is it a question of having too many democracy? Freedom of expression to insult the republican President. Awe bachilamo elyo bay asana bamumbwe. They should be caged.

They dream of insults day in and day out. Is it possible that they have not seen anything good that the President has done?

Lumba Jonathan, Kabwe

Time for politicking is over

Dear editor,

It is a very well known fact that President Edgar Chagwa Lungu is the bonafide head of State of Zambia until 2021. Furthermore, let us be mindful of the fact there can only be republican President in the country after the general elections.

As for those opposition leaders and individuals attacking President Lungu for no apparent or unjustifiable reasons don’t mean well for our country. This is because they seem not to know what they are doing. They are miles away from political reality. If anything, they should provide checks and balances in the good governance of our country.

The head of State has been attacked most of the time by some people and opposition leaders whose main preoccupation is to enter State House by whatever means, including violating the electoral process.

President Lungu has a national development agenda for the country. This is because he strives to deliver development equitably to all parts of the country regardless of ethnic grouping or the voting pattern.

For the head of State to achieve this objective, there is need for all Zambians to support him. The period of politicking ended on August 11, 2016 when the general elections were held. It is now time for work and everyone has a role to play towards fostering economic development of Zambia.

Mighty will bounce back

Dear editor,

The legendary cup fighters and nine time premier league champions, Mighty Mufulira Wanderers Football Club was relegated to Division One on Saturday December 2, 2017.

This was after the Mighty lost 2-4 to Zesco United Football Club, who eventually won the 2017 premier league season in a must win encounter for former survive relegation. As fate would have it, Mighty lost the determinant match and they were eventually relegated to the lower league.

Konkola Copper Mine (KCM), the sponsors for Mighty offered each player K20, 000.00 as winning bonus in a bid to motivate the team to survive relegation but to no avail.

It is unfortunate that Mighty, which produced notable players such the late Efford Chabala, late Samuel Zoom Ndhlovu, the Africa soccer legend and 1988 African footballer of the year among others will be plying their trade in the lower division. The last time Mighty was relegated to Division One was in 2006 and they bounced back to the elite league in 2015. This means that the team played in the lower division for nine years.

Despite the relegation to the lower league, Mighty will certainly bounce back to premier league through commitment, discipline and hard work. The sponsors, KCM have pledged continued sponsorship to the team even in the lower division, where the people’s team and legendary cup fighter will be plying their trade during the 2018 soccer season.

Cholera versus profits

Editor,

It is difficult for street vendors to abandon trade in food stuffs because that is their only source of income.

Unless government is ready to compensate them, I don’t see how they can be expected to forego profits just like that.

There should be a permanent solution this than the ad hoc arrangements being done now. Let vendors get off the streets and go in the markets so that this issue of moving does not arise.

As it is, there are many who are defying the ban on sale of fresh  or cooked food on the streets.
