DRUGS SHORTAGE HAS NEGATIVE IMPACT ON WOMEN AND CHILDREN
By MILLENNIUM REPORTER
Lack of adequate drugs in hospitals has a negative impact mostly on women and children as use of unauthenticated drugs in communities becomes common, Women for Change Executive Director Lumba Siyanga has warned.
Ms. Siyanga said drug abuse in the communities result into national and personal health challenges which contribute to productivity losses.
She said despite the government showing commitment to enhance health care services, there is need to find lasting solutions to preventing medicine abuse in communities that arise due to shortage of drugs in health centres.
Ms Siyanga said drug shortages usually place women and children at increased risk of medication safety, as well as financial burden.
