Mr Sikumba who disclosed this during a stakeholders meeting in Livingstone said that the development of the South-west corridor has been hindered by the deplorable state of the Kazungula-Sesheke road.
Mr Sikumba said it was the desire of the UPND government to ensure that tourism activities in the South-west corridor and Northern circuit are thriveg thereby boosting the tourism industry in the country.
He said that on the South-west corridor, the government through the Ministry of Infrastructure has already announced plans to work on the road which will be done in the next two years.
Mr Sikumba further said that government was making minimal infrastructure improvements on the Northern circuit to boost tourism activities at Kasaba Bay.
He said that once all that is done, it will make Zambia a preferred destination not only in the region but globally.
And Mr Sikumba, who is also Livingstone Member of Parliament has advised hotels and lodge owners in the Tourist Capital to encourage their workers to get vaccinated.
He said this further goes to the residents of Livingstone to do so as the cases of COVID-19 continue to escalate.
