KAUNDA CHALLENGES WARRIORS

By MICHAEL MIYOBA

NEWLY appointed Kabwe Warriors gaffer, Chris Kaunda has challenged his players to die a little for their team to honour legends like Godfrey Chitalu who fought hard for the club.

Kaunda said Warriors is a bigger than some teams in Zam- bia and players need to work hard to realise the dream of players who died trying to achieve something big for the club.

Kaunda hailed the Warriors executive for naming his as head coach of the legendary club and promised to work with management, the players and the fans to push and fight for the betterment of the team.

“I’m very grateful to the people of Kabwe and management for having looked at me as a person who can try to help and continue where my brother Bakala has left the team.

“This team has been here. There were big names here and it is not a small club. Kabwe Warriors is bigger than most of these clubs in Zambia. There was Mr. Godfrey Chitalu the late, Mr Stevenson, Mr. Simutowe the late. These nearly died for the team and I would love the players to die a little for the team,” Kaunda said.

“Players should leave a mark for those people who worked hard for this team so that they can rest in peace because they need to celebrate. They had a purpose and their purpose was to win something big in Africa so our boys need to work very hard to honour the late players,” he said.

And Kabwe Warriors Chairman Hayden Dingwall believes Kaunda has the experience needed to help the team succeed in the MTN/FAZ Super League.

“Chris comes with a huge experience. He did very well at Zanaco and I think he comes with the experience the club needs,” Dingwall said.

Kaunda takes over from Ian Bakala who has since left the club and will be assisted by

Josphat Nkhoma who has been appointed as first assistant coach.

Others on the Kabwe Warriors technical bench are physical trainer Derrick Mulenga and Mike Songwe Siame who will be in charge of drilling goalkeepers.
