A SENIOR citizen in Solwezi has urged opposition United Party for National Development (UPND) Members of Parliament to stop politicking and up their game for development.

Timothy Mbumba told the Daily nation in an interview that he has noted with great concern that the MPs are not doing enough in fulfilling their campaign promises.

He said the electorate in the province are not interested in politicking but want to see development.

“I think time for politics is gone, what people are interested in is development and this development can only be realised when our Members of Parliament start engaging Government,’’ Mr Mbumba said.

He said the MPS should not be misled by their party leadership by shunning public events. “You cannot work in isolation no matter how famous you are.  You need Government,’’ he added.

He further noted that the suspension of 48 UPND MPs with some coming from the region makes sad reading and a setback in terms of development.
