PLANNED public demonstrations by Patriotic Front leaders to protest against election nullification have been put off.

The members wanted to demonstrate to  show their indgnation but the top leadership felt that this might be counter productive.

A councillor who was to be part of the demonstration said “Surely how can burying one’s umbilical cord in Zambia be a ground for nullification of an  election, when this is true and a well-founded Zambian tradition?.” a Councilor has charged.

“There is nothing racist in the remark, it simply asserts a reality, just as the fact that Mrs. Margret Mwanakatwe was a Minister appointed by the President. This cannot be changed by anybody. Not even a court can rule against such a reality.” he said.

He revealed that there was a groundswell of anger among PF members who felt that a conspiracy had been launched to undermine the elections by introducing extraneous grounds of nullification to pave way for the constitutional Court to nullify the final outcome of the elections. “Members wanted to demonstrate to show their indignation but the top leadership feels that this might be counterproductive. “he said. “We however feel that these issues should be brought out because these are realities. How can a seat be nullified for use of public resources when there is no evidence, if anything campaigning requires much more money than a few Chitenges.”he said.
