Kabwata PF in disarray : As PF Constituency chair resigns

KABWATA PF constituency chairman, Trevor Ng’andu has resigned to protest against candidates who did not apply for adoption on the party ticket but allegedly wanted to be included on the list at the last minute using corrupt means. Mr Ng’andu who submitted his resignation letter as constituency chairman as well as national elections committee member and Lusaka mobilisation deputy media coordinator said he did not want to be part of the illegality. He explained that he decided to resign because one of the candidates who did not apply for adoption wanted to be included on the list at the last minute using corrupt means.“I immediately expressed my displeasure to the executive and the party hierarchy that I would not be part of such fraudulent acts as this would suppress the party’s effort to rebrand and move away from such corrupt practices,” Mr Ng’andu said in the resignation letter dated December18, 2021.He added, “My position on this matter did not sit well with other senior party officials hence my decision to step down from all my portfolios and the party.”Earlier, Mr Ng’andu said in an interview that his executive would not allow or entertain anyone who did not apply in line with the party’s constitution, to be fused in. He said the constituency would follow the party constitution and shall not entertain any underhand methods in the selection process. Mr Ng’andu’s decision, however, did not sit well with supporters of candidates who had failed to beat the deadline for submitting applications. The Kabwata seat fell vacant following the death of UPND MP, Levy Mkandawire in a road traffic accident outside his house last month. However, Four PF members have successfully applied for adoption in the forthcoming Kabwata parliamentary by-election. The four are Clement Tembo, Patrick Mwape, Nalishebo Sinyama and Gabriel Kibombwe.Other candidates aspiring on the PF ticket include Clement Tembo and Gabriel Kibombwe, both Kabwata residents and dwellers.
