MWENYA Musenge should immediately exculpate himself and show why disciplinary action should not be taken against him for the unwarranted statements he has been issuing in the media, says PF deputy secretary general Mumbi Phiri.

Ms Phiri said the party will today write to the former Copperbelt minister asking him to explain why he should not be disciplined for his unwarranted statements in the media, considering that he was a senior member of the party familiar with the channels of communication.

Ms Phiri said the party will not risk a situation where senior party members were issuing careless statements, and Mr Musenge was aware who the spokesperson for the party was.

She said if Mr Musenge had any grievances to air, he should have written to the PF central committee instead of going to the press.

“It is surprisingly that the former minister of the Copperbelt, Mwenya Musenge, has started issuing statements when he knows the form of communication in our party and despite that he is a very senior party member,” said Ms Phiri.

And Ms Phiri said PF was disappointed by the South African opposition political parties, Democratic Alliance and Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF)’s inability to comprehend how the Zambian justice system works before issuing unpalatable remarks against Zambia’s duly elected President Edgar Lungu.

Ms Phiri has advised the South African opposition Democratic Alliance and EFF against issuing ill-advised comments on issues before the Zambian courts.

“As a party we are perturbed at how the DA and EFF have allowed themselves to be toiled by the whims of a disgruntled opposition who want to undermine the will of the Zambian people. UPND has shown recklessness in their failure to explain simple civics to their opposition counterparts in South Africa.

‘UPND are power hungry, perpetual failures whose appetite for unlawful behavior has been condemned by a cross section of civil society, traditional leaders, Church leaders and Zambians at large.

“Let me also place on record that I have adopted ANC Youth League national executive member Sifiso Mtswani as my own, and thank him for his support to mother Zambia. Reactionary forces from other countries aligned to opposition UPND are misrepresenting Zambia,” she said. Ms Phiri said there were thugs masquerading as leaders of a named opposition party, which sought to see anarchy in Zambia to the extent of seeking to collide with the Presidential motorcade.

The PF has since advised DA and EFF to take a cue from the various reputable international bodies that monitored the Zambian elections and deemed them free and fair, adding they must also learn from international institutions such as the British High Commissioner Fergus Cochrane-Dyet who condemned the provocative nature of HH and his minions in Mongu.
